Calyx Baby Carrier

The Calyx is an exciting new baby carrier from MBD. This attractive and easy to use system is designed carry even heavy toddlers without strain. Our contoured straps distribute the weight through the torso, holding the baby close to the wearer's center of gravity. The padded shoulder straps pass over the baby's thighs to support from underneath, and the waistbelt harness system supports your lower back.

The Calyx excels as a toddler carrier. We recommend using it with babies over 4 months old, who are getting stronger and learning to hold up their neck. You will find this carrier a bit large for a small one, really feeling the difference with babies 9 months- 3 years. Smaller babies ride high, with their head near the back of the adult's neck, between the shoulder blades and the waistband at your natural waist. As baby grows, the waistband becomes a hip belt, supporting the low back.

Just like the MBD Mei Tais, the Calyx has an internal harness which folds up over the baby's belly and fastens over the legs. It helps to hold the baby into the carrier, you put baby and carrier on together just like a backpack. It attaches low enough to be well out of the way of breastfeeding, this is an easy and discrete carrier for nursing. Padding from the waistbelt extends into the harness for comfort.
